Kaloud Lotus 1+ Heat Management Device - How does it work?

You can use the Kaloud Lotus 1+ HMD with normal hookah bowls with a diameter of at least 5cm (2 inches).

1. Heat your hookah charcoal first
Before you start assembling your Kaloud Lotus 1+ HMD, we recommend you to heat your shisha coal. For an optimal hookah experience, we recommend the fuel premium hookah charcoal. Depending on how much heat you like to give the tobacco, you can heat between 3 and 4 coals.

2. Pack your shisha bowl
You can smoke the Kaloud Lotus 1+ HMD in both a contact setup and with distance setup. In a contact setup, the bottom nubs of the Kaloud Lotus 1+ HMD lightly touch the tobacco. In a distance setup, the nubs of the Kaloud Lotus 1+ HMD do not touch the tobacco. It's best to try both methods to see what gives you the best results. Some tobaccos run better with spacing, some need more heat contact. The Kaloud Lotus 1+ HMD can be used for both phunnel and multi-hole bowls.

3. Place the Kaloud Lotus 1+ HMD on the shisha bowl
Place the Kaloud Lotus 1+ HMD on the shisha bowl and place the heated shisha charcoal inside the shisha HMD. To smoke with little heat, you can first place 2 coals next to each other in the Kaloud Lotus 1+ HMD. For more heat, you can place 1 or 2 more on the edge.

4. Controlling the heat
There are three recommended methods to control the heat of the shisha with the Kaloud Lotus 1+ HMD.

With the lid of the Kaloud Lotus 1+ HMD removed, the least amount of heat is produced.
When the lid is closed and the vents are open, medium heat is generated.
When the vents are closed, the most heat is generated.
More heat produces more smoke, but you should be careful not to develop too much heat, as this can make the tobacco taste burnt.

Depending on your preference, you can add or remove shisha charcoal to achieve the perfect shisha experience for your taste. We strongly recommend you to use a shisha charcoal tongs when carrying the heated shisha charcoal.

5. Cleaning the Kaloud Lotus 1+ HMD
Before cleaning, make sure your Kaloud Lotus I+ HMD is cool to the touch. Dispose of the used shisha charcoal and wipe out the Kaloud Lotus 1+ HMD to keep it clean between sessions. When it's time for a thorough cleaning, simply place your Kaloud Lotus 1+ HMD in hot tap water - or better yet, 50% water and 50% vinegar - let it sit for three hours, and gently scrub it with a soft sponge. You may need to repeat this process a few times to remove the carbon deposits. Furthermore, we recommend using an HMD brush like this one or this one for cleaning. Please note that using the HMD brush may remove the material from the Kaloud Lotus 1+ HMD.
